Cariboo Trips & Trails

Murphy Shewchuk, winner of the 2008 British Columbia Heritage Award, has come out with another travel book.  Cariboo Trips & Trails covers a wide variety of backroads trips and recreational trails in British Columbia’s ‘Gold Rush’ region from Hope north to Barkerville and from Yellowhead Highway 5 west to Bella Coola. 

Each chapter of this 406 page guidebook includes historical background, roadside points of interest and basic information such as road conditions, trip length and reference maps.  For the modern traveller, there are tables at the end of the chapters that include GPS waypoint data and kilometre references.  To further help keep the backroads explorer from getting lost, the detailed text is supplemented with 26 maps and 220 black & white photos.
